Eardisland
won the Village Pride Award for 2004. In the summer local villagers,
Jenny Gittoes, Richard Baldwin and Chris Bivand were interviewed by
BBC Radio Hereford and Worcester about the success of the village in
maintaining such high standards of care. Councillor Roger Phillips presented
the impressive winners plaque to Peter Davenport and Serena Askew, Chair
and Vice Chair of the Parish Council. This will be placed on display
near the Dovecote.
Following publicity regarding the suggestion that Eardisland should
be twinned with Lyre in Normandy Paul Selfe was interviewed by BBC Radio
Hereford and Worcester in February 2005. He explained the historical
links between the two villages and the reasons why it would be important
for such a connection to be established. The interviewer suggested that
the BBC be kept informed as to progress with this twinning suggestion.
